The Software Controls Engineer II will be part of a team of talented engineers and technicians who create and support automated solutions for our manufacturing and new product development customers. You will support the development, implementation, and improvements of automated equipment and software systems for medical device manufacturing. This role has a hands-on approach in equipment development including automation and controls design, electro-mechanical systems, industrial and collaborative robots, and computer hardware and software support. This enables us to support and develop a wide range of legacy and new technology solutions across the full spectrum of manufacturing capability from high volume automation to low volume manual assembly.
Your Responsibilities Include:
Provides support to new and sustaining initiatives in the areas of automation and equipment design originating from the Process Development and Manufacturing teams.
Engages with peers to align on development standards and common strategies.
Develop electrical/software design based upon departments’ standard development tools and procedures. This includes pneumatic devices, electro-mechanical devices, motion controllers, sensors, system controllers, human interfaces and safety devices.
Prioritizes project work and tracks progress towards completion. Ensures that completed projects meet customer expectations and timelines.
Monitors daily work and provides feedback and status to project leaders or supervisor.
Identifies, anticipates and mitigates technical risks and scope changes encountered during highly visible and challenging equipment design.
Completes FDA/QSR software requirements by assisting in the creation of specifications and qualifications.
Provides training as required to ensure that the equipment can be operated effectively.
What We’re Looking For:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent Technology field
3-5 years of engineering / related work experience
A passion for connecting technical solutions with operational excellence
Experience with Allen Bradley suite of products (Logix5000, Studio 5000, Factory Talk View) with a PackML methodology desired.
Experience selecting and sizing electro-mechanical and processing components (servo motors, sensors, pneumatics, heaters)
Exposure to machine vision tools, robotic systems, IoT, or AI.
