Are you an engineer looking for a new opportunity to provide technical coordination to our project team for all project phases to ensure effective development, execution and performance? You will have the opportunity to participate in project development activities such as design input, estimating, planning and scheduling to ensure safe and quality projects. All projects follow Suncor’s Asset Development and Execution Model (ADEM) with its standardized project management processes and procedures.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Ensure all work throughout the project lifecycle is performed in accordance with all Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S), Process Safety Management (PSM) and other regulatory requirements
  • Assist the project manager with the initial project cash flow and work breakdown structure (WBS) as well as contracting strategy and assisting the project scheduler with updates from engineering and construction personnel
  • Identify potential risks, based on the corporate risk matrix, and that the appropriate mitigation plan is developed as needed throughout the project’s life cycle
  • Collaborate with the project team, refinery personnel, construction team, and contractors as needed to ensure compliance with project milestone dates
  • Ensure that all project deliverables meet project quality, cost and schedule requirements
  • Review and approve, all design packages and construction work packages as part of the execution plan
  • Develop all project documentation per Suncor’s Information Management Standards and process, including all project meeting notes, maintaining files of all actions, decisions, changes and communications throughout the projects life cycle
  • Develop and maintain all project documentation per Suncor standards

We’d like to review your application if you have…

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • 7 - 10 years of experience in project execution
  • A post-secondary education, preferably in engineering, applied science or equivalent
  • A deep understanding of information management processes related to project execution and asset lifecycle
  • An applied knowledge of applicable technical standards and procedures
  • A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • Alignment with our values of: safety above all else, respect, raise the bar, commitments matter and do the right thing

Preference for:

  • Experience in refinery/petrochemical plants
  • A Project Management certification
  • Operations or maintenance experience in a refinery environment
  • Continuous improvement mindset with strong communication and decision-making capacity
  • You have a positive work ethic and are a strong communicator with an aptitude to build strong positive relationships and effectively drive messaging to diverse groups within an organization
  • You have zero-tolerance for shortcuts, and if the procedure is incorrect, you fix it

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will work out of our Commerce City refinery, located at 5455 Brighton Blvd
  • You have the ability to work under stressful emergency situations, tight deadlines, and conflicts with suppliers or contractors
  • You must be able to work extended hours and weekends when needed, to meet project deadlines
