Assistant Professor of Biology

Mars Hill University, a private liberal arts institution located in the mountains of western North Carolina, is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Professor of Biology for the 2018-2019 academic year.

Duties include teaching genetics, cell biology, and related courses for biology majors, teaching biological science for non-majors, as well as supervising undergraduate student research. Additional opportunities to teach general education classes that emphasize the liberal arts perspective of Mars Hill University exist. Duties also include advising students pursuing post-graduate studies, participating in student recruitment, and contributing to the development of departmental curricula and programs. The appointment will begin with the Fall 2018 semester. Review of applications will begin on March 16, 2018 and continue until a suitable applicant has been hired.

The candidate should have a Ph.D. in biology with an emphasis in cell biology and genetics and/or biotechnology in addition to relevant teaching experience. Experience with teaching in a liberal arts setting, advising undergraduates, and student-faculty research at the undergraduate level are desirable. Candidates lacking a terminal degree or expected experience may be considered for a visiting appointment for one academic year.
